For in the image of God has God made man. – Genesis 9:6 Our DNA is hard coded to worship Jesus. For any of us who follow Christ daily this fact is undeniable. When we worship it stirs up emotions we don’t feel at any other time. At points it drives us to tears of repentance, sometimes tears of joy, and other times tears of shear awe. For those who don’t serve this God, who have doubt, who have questions, this seems perplexing. How can worshiping something no one can see help me? How can it possible change my life? January 30th, 2008 Dana Fisher …Proclaim to it the message I give to you. – Jonah 3:2 Yesterday was media day at the Super Bowl. A general circus of reporters clamour for players attention and ask some of the most ludicrous questions you could imagine. My team, the Patriots, are in the Super Bowl this year and as such I was interested in what would be said, who would be talking, etc… About 20 minutes in to the event a reporter asked Tom Brady what his purpose in life was. “Why do you have this platform?” he asked. Hmmm… Jonah had a platform. He was charged with going into Nineveh and proclaiming God’s message. Scared, he ran from God but our God is so big there’s nowhere to hide. January 4th, 2008 Dana Fisher Therefore what God has joined together, let man not seperate. – Matthew 19:6 I feel I must get on my soap box after having a conversation a couple of days ago with several non-believers. Two are around my age, one around my dad’s age. It troubled me to the point I needed a few days to grapple with what it really means. Recalling how the conversation actually started is difficult, and probably irrelevant, but we all somehow managed to get on the conversation of marriage. One spoke up and said he and his wife moved in together and then got married so marriage wasn’t a “big decision” for them. December 27th, 2007 Dana Fisher The elements will be destroyed by fire. – 2 Peter 3:10 The smell of smoke and ash filled the air, choking out the breath in my lungs. But that wasn’t why my eyes began to water. Sitting on the cold, wet pavement just up the road was a young woman, wailing and sobbing. My brother came rushing in the door moments before. “Get out here, QUICK!” Confused and seeing the obvious excited panic in his eyes and went to the door in my socks. Not 500ft from my house flames licked the cold night sky. They stretched far out the top of the roof in the front, smoke billowing out from underneath the shingles in the back. Red Rover, Red Rover
December 12th, 2007 Dana Fisher The Farmer sows the word. -Mark 4:14 Have you ever played red rover as a kid? It’s a recess game, with two teams facing each other, their hands interlocked. Each team takes turns calling someone over to try and break through the chain. I’d like to view it in another light. As Christians we have a tendency to form an impenetrable wall. We interlock hands with each other and hold on for dear life. When someone new comes along and tries to break in to our group we resist. Even as Christians Satan can use us for evil. Jesus communed with sinners(Mark 2:16-18). They need Him more than we who are already saved. We are all farmers, chosen to plant seed. Roller Coaster
December 7th, 2007 Dana Fisher Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering. -1 Peter 4:12 At the end of every school year my tiny Christian school would have an outing to a small amusement park about an hour from us. There was nothing great about the park, mostly kiddie rides, but they did have one ride all us older kids loved to get in line for. “The White Roller Coaster”. It wasn’t much to look at, an old school roller coaster made of wood. There aren’t many of these vintage coasters laying around anymore. It was rickety, it was noisy, and no matter how many times you rode it you always felt like this time could be your last and the cars could go flying off into the parking lot. November 29th, 2007 Dana Fisher Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. – Proverbs 22:6 Over the past few months I have had several run-ins with friends from my past. It’s always good to see old friends and reminisce about the past, catch up on what you missed, and question where you’re headed. God has really placed a burden on my heart to really contemplate each of these encounters individually. To see the different places these people are in their lives and to understand how they got there, but also to praise Him for the foundation He gave me. Going to a Christian school my entire life jaded me as a youngster. I wasn’t the strongest Christian in high school, and in fact, most of my friends were stronger.
