Many of you may already know that Dave and Jen Capozzi will be adopting a son from Haiti. After traveling there on a missions trip in March they fell in love with a young boy named Andy. You can read more about their story on the adoption blog. We are all super exited for him to come here and be apart of not only their family but our extended family. However what comes with the joy of adoption are also some staggering costs. In the hopes of helping them out we are going to host a fundraiser right here in Weymouth with several things for all ages! 100% of the proceeds will go to the adoption fees. Those ones you laugh at now, based in the 1960′s or 70′s with bell bottoms, bad acting, and even worse graphics and make up. But as a little kid I was terrified! I remember coming home one day and just telling my mother they flat out scared the hell out of me. A lot of my salvation at an early age was based on this fear of the end. In short, superman goes to support protests in the Middle East. The U.S.A. is pissed that he did it, and Iran views his actions as that of the U.S.(and president) and an act of war. Realizing that he wants to go beyond helping one specific subset of people and that the only way to avoid the political red tape/mess he renounces his citizenship so he can become more global and less national. March 8th, 2011 Dana Fisher When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?” – John 5:6 Community and missions are viewed differently out here in Colorado than it was back home. They had a missions day at church a few weeks back and no less than 12-15 different non-profit organizations lined the foyer. Many overlapped with each other, tackling the same issue and others had multiple goals(helping homeless, tutoring kids, and community renovation all wrapped in to one). I was stunned by how many opportunities there were and how many people were actively signing up on the sheets at each table. No sooner do we come down off the mountain with Jesus then the wave of doubt and destruction and hardships come crashing against us like the ocean hitting the sea wall. October 28th, 2010 Dana Fisher Back in 2003 I was at Fenway Park for game 4 of the divisional series against the Oakland A’s. The Red Sox had lost the first two games and would need to win the next 3 in order to advance. They won game 3 to stay alive and as game 4 was winding down it appeared their season was over. Down in the bottom of the eighth their bats came alive and with two outs Big Papi strode to the plate. Back then he was menacing. A giant superman logo was etched in his chest and fire came from his nostrils. Okay I made that up. But back then when he came to the plate you always felt like you were watching something special. October 15th, 2010 Dana Fisher I realize the Bible says blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed(John 20:29), but for us as people, it proves very difficult. If it weren’t, all of us would perhaps be saved just by word of mouth and nothing more. To experience the Lausanne Congress from the inside is a unique perspective and while I can do my best to describe the sites, sounds, and experiences here it would not do justice to the great expansive effort being put forward here by everyone. Sometimes seeing is believing. Yesterday was spent in meetings, training, and a tour of the venue getting an overview of how things are going to play out. In the main hall crews worked through the night on lifts wiring up lighting, while other crews constructed a bookstore and registration booths. July 9th, 2010 dave hola. i believe it was socrates (sow-craits)johnson from bill and ted’s excellent adventure who said, “know thyself.” well socrates, i fully intend to. i’ve come to a point in my life where i am not all that concerned with hearing about my negative traits. i’ve actually come to the point of wanting to know more of them and even embracing some of them. i want to know the things that other people think about me and just won’t tell me. seriously, i can handle it! over the past couple of months i have been involved in a group that has allowed me to open up about the things that i struggle with, and they in turn have told me what they believe to be my flaws as onlookers to my life. side note: they are real jerks about it. i’m thinking about leaving the group. joke. in fact, they have… [Read More]
