Many of you may already know that Dave and Jen Capozzi will be adopting a son from Haiti. After traveling there on a missions trip in March they fell in love with a young boy named Andy. You can read more about their story on the adoption blog. We are all super exited for him to come here and be apart of not only their family but our extended family. However what comes with the joy of adoption are also some staggering costs. In the hopes of helping them out we are going to host a fundraiser right here in Weymouth with several things for all ages! 100% of the proceeds will go to the adoption fees. Tickets will be just $10 at the door. Planoeast! – That’s right, they’re back! If you don’t already know their music, check out their facebook page The Brightest Lights – A great local… [Read More]

A friend in need in Japan – Help needed
March 22nd, 2011
Dana Fisher This is from a friend of mines wife. Her best friends brother and family are currently stuck in Japan trying to get back to the US. Please read the below and if you can help in any way email Taryn at tarynjoy@gmail.com. There are many many stories like this and if you feel so led to directly help one family in need it would be a great blessing to them. -Dana ———————– As all of you know, Caroline’s brother Chris and his family live in Fukushima, Japan. Chris moved there a few years back to teach English. He fell in love with the Japanese culture and also a wonderful Japanese woman, Kanako. They now have 2 beautiful daughters, Penny (2 yrs old) and Rosalind (7 months). Kanako also has a son who is 11 and his name is Youta. Some of you have gotten the pleasure to meet them when… [Read More]
Sacrifice for a King
March 10th, 2011
Dana Fisher “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter- when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; Isaiah 58: 6-8 I would encourage you to read the whole chapter of Isaiah 58. What a cool picture of true fasting. A day removed from the beginning of lent I started to reflect on the beginning of my journey. Not yesterday, but my journey from my previous thoughts on fasting to where I am now as I start out on my 40 days. I humbly… [Read More]
Why I love Buddha
March 6th, 2011
Dana Fisher Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. -1 Peter 4:8 A few years ago, me and Dave would grab coffee in downtown Quincy after serving meals at the Crisis Center and just talk about controversial topics in Christianity: war, soldiers, guns, world religions, etc… Having grown up together, we could do this with civility even with opposing views because we loved each other regardless. Our differing views didn’t prevent either of us from going to heaven, we weren’t debating whether Jesus was just a man, but merely things with which many a Christian struggles to define. He had already known where I was coming from, both growing up in similar church surroundings(and sometimes the same one), and I wanted to understand better where he was coming from. The ideas he was throwing at me were strange, yet sounded and felt right in my… [Read More]
Wielding your Knife
November 10th, 2010
Dana Fisher Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. ~Genesis 22:10 As I made my way through customs on U.S. soil I knew the attacks would be coming swiftly. No sooner do we come down off the mountain with Jesus then the wave of doubt and destruction and hardships come crashing against us like the ocean hitting the sea wall. Sure enough, I set my bags in the car, sat down in the passenger seat and it began. I would be headed to Denver soon, uprooting my entire life, leaving my friends, family, and church behind. Most of my possessions would be gone and I would be traveling with only what would fit in two cars. It was not an easy decision by any means and one with which I wrestled for a very long time(and even still struggle with even after the fact). It… [Read More]
Lausanne Movement – Small Cogs
October 15th, 2010
Dana Fisher I realize the Bible says blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed(John 20:29), but for us as people, it proves very difficult. If it weren’t, all of us would perhaps be saved just by word of mouth and nothing more. To experience the Lausanne Congress from the inside is a unique perspective and while I can do my best to describe the sites, sounds, and experiences here it would not do justice to the great expansive effort being put forward here by everyone. Sometimes seeing is believing. Yesterday was spent in meetings, training, and a tour of the venue getting an overview of how things are going to play out. In the main hall crews worked through the night on lifts wiring up lighting, while other crews constructed a bookstore and registration booths. Early in the morning as we headed out to our offsite meeting things… [Read More]
the fog
October 1st, 2010
dave fogs seem to go on forever. sometimes it’s nearly impossible to see one foot in front of you, and you certainly can’t see a destination on the horizon. that pretty much sums up where I have been over the last 2 weeks. it seems that i have allowed responsibilities (failed and forthcoming) to overwhelm me. this may come as a result of the fact that i am a (self-proclaimed) dreamer (jen would probably affirm this). i spend a lot of time with my head in the clouds, envisioning where we will be someday down the road, but it seems that I live my day to day life with zero visibility. i spend so much time thinking about how things should be or how I could help make things better, that i neglect the little things that would allow me to faithfully lead my family. my prayer, as of late, has… [Read More]
fuzzy lines
June 18th, 2010
dave hola friends, i had a brief, but great, conversation with my friend jeremy yesterday when he visited my workplace. we were talking about the bible and some of its apparent contradictions. since jeremy is the pastor of his own community in hingham i will not speak to anything he said, but as you might assume, i am not too shy to let the world wide web know my current thoughts on the matter. a little background to start…i have, for a few years now, come to embrace the teachings, life, death and resurrection of jesus as the benchmark for which my life should be patterned (of course i fail. of course i cannot do it on my own). this is certainly not anything groundbreaking, but when it first occurred to me that jesus actually meant for us to take his word seriously my whole life changed. as one who grew up… [Read More]
