October 1st, 2010 dave fogs seem to go on forever. sometimes it’s nearly impossible to see one foot in front of you, and you certainly can’t see a destination on the horizon. that pretty much sums up where I have been over the last 2 weeks. it seems that i have allowed responsibilities (failed and forthcoming) to overwhelm me. this may come as a result of the fact that i am a (self-proclaimed) dreamer (jen would probably affirm this). i spend a lot of time with my head in the clouds, envisioning where we will be someday down the road, but it seems that I live my day to day life with zero visibility. i spend so much time thinking about how things should be or how I could help make things better, that i neglect the little things that would allow me to faithfully lead my family. my prayer, as of late, has… [Read More]

May 28th, 2010 dave a small group of guys that i am a part of has been discussing the atonement as a result of watching this video featuring mark driscoll, pastor of mars hill church in seattle, washington. i want to share some quotes with you all from this video: “god hates all who do evil.” “we sin, God hates us!” ”we do what we are!” interesting. how do we reconcile this with john 3:16, never mind a whole score of passages in scripture that speak of God’s intense love for humanity, despite their wickedness? interesting that it doesn’t say that god so hated the evildoers of the world that he sent his only son to redeem them. this is not to say that it doesn’t in fact say that God hates evildoers in psalm 5:5, but we must not take one verse and apply an emotion or characteristic to God that seems entirely inconsistent when… [Read More]

January 4th, 2008 Dana Fisher Therefore what God has joined together, let man not seperate. – Matthew 19:6 I feel I must get on my soap box after having a conversation a couple of days ago with several non-believers. Two are around my age, one around my dad’s age. It troubled me to the point I needed a few days to grapple with what it really means. Recalling how the conversation actually started is difficult, and probably irrelevant, but we all somehow managed to get on the conversation of marriage. One spoke up and said he and his wife moved in together and then got married so marriage wasn’t a “big decision” for them.
