If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand. ~Philippians 2:1-4(The Message) Imagine losing everything. Imagine uprooting your entire family. Your house is gone. Your clothes. Your children’s toy and books, your photographs and memories crushed. Imagine your job is gone and the only option you have left is to leave your country. Imagine. What kind of panic would settle in your mind? What kind… [Read More]

Jesus Creed
February 23rd, 2011
Dana Fisher This was originally authored by John Shorack and posted by a friend of mine, Tim Colegrove on his blog site Tanks to Tractors. I couldn’t help but repost again. Manifesto We confess that Jesus is Lord, the full revelation of the God of the Old Testament and that before Him every knee will bow. We confess that Jesus is Christ, Israel’s Messiah, and Savior of the world who conquered the power of evil on the cross. We agree with Jesus’ call to undivided allegiance to God: “No one can serve two masters…” (Matt 6:24), and “Love the Lord your God with all your heart…and your neighbor as yourself.” We also reaffirm that: “God so loved the world…” and has sent us with that love to society’s outcasts and our country’s enemies. Like Jesus, we must say ‘yes’ to the kingdom of God, and ‘no’ to all allegiances that compromise the furthering of… [Read More]
Suffering for Christ
January 30th, 2011
Dana Fisher But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. ~1 Peter 4:13 You ever notice the more you veer towards the Lord the harder life becomes? That straight and narrow path is narrow for a reason and sometimes, certainly for me, it feels as if either side is a ledge. When I look back at some of the big trials in my life I see a moment in time on that same point where I made a decision for Christ and against the World. We don’t teach that in Sunday School. We teach hey come give your life to Jesus and watch the blessings flow. I believe Christianity need come with a warning. Those blessings do abound but they come at a price. They also often come inside peace that surpasses understanding. I realize this is hard… [Read More]
Sometimes it’s all you have
September 11th, 2010
Dana Fisher If you’ve ever been nervous talking to a girl(or boy) and you fall all over your words you’ll understand where I am coming from. Sometimes when you are passionate or excited about something, the words can come out in a jumbled mess. It’s embarrassing but as you grow you realize confrontation is better than cowering and misunderstandings do occur. I wrote about the dysfunctional family of Christ, seeing firsthand how messed up I am and that I was not in the right place. My example was an experience of mine, but instead of coming out like I was looking at me it came out offensive to a particular church, with whom I have a long relationship. I have many friends there(including family) and owe my strong foundation in Christ to the years of faithful preaching of their pastors. I would like to say I’m sorry. I have nothing, nothing at… [Read More]
When Two Worlds Collide
August 6th, 2010
Dana Fisher It’s so hard for me to write when things seem to be crashing down. The last thing I want to do when fighting a lion is pick up a pencil when I need a sword. It just seems to be anti-climactic to write something about fighting the good fight, when all I want to do is wave a white flag and ask for a truce for a few days. Some times I just want a break, I just feel so mentally drained. It’s not physical at all, I feel like I could go play football all day or run 5 miles, but my mind is spinning so fast it tires out my entire body. It’s sort of like an overloaded washer. The clothes are in there spinning relentlessly but there’s to much in there and the pressure and weight of it all is pushing on the door, weakening the seal…. [Read More]
Keep Digging
June 15th, 2010
Dana Fisher Make this valley full of ditches. For this is what the LORD says: You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink. This is an easy thing in the eyes of the LORD; he will also hand Moab over to you. You will overthrow every fortified city and every major town. You will cut down every good tree, stop up all the springs, and ruin every good field with stones. ~2 Kings 3:16-19 My pastor used the above passage in his sermon last week and while it wasn’t so much “in passing”, it definitely wasn’t the focal point of his message. Yet, like that piece of sidewalk gum stuck to the bottom of your shoe that you just can’t seem to scrape off, it just keeps sticking in the forefront of my mind. I… [Read More]
Impassioned Prayer
June 13th, 2010
Dana Fisher He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. ~Psalm 147:3 Lord, I don’t understand. My heart is heavy and my eyes burn. I hear the rain falling outside my window and wonder why it’s falling on everyone. Will it stop? I’ve always known that pruning was painful and I’ve seen some light pruning over my years but nothing like this. Your shears are cutting deep and further back than I’ve ever seen. Many it seems are falling prey to the pleasures of this world. You’ve pruned and they’ve withered and fallen away. Satan has tricked us, each in our weakest point, in to believing there’s nothing better. He’s drawn on our selfishness and brought us to places where our desires are fulfilled. When will You call them back home? Will You call them back home? I’m a broken man, a man who sees no place here for his head…. [Read More]
Confusing Peace
June 11th, 2010
Dana Fisher And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus ~Phillipians 4:7 I saw it in her eyes as I slowly made my way down the line at the wake. It’s not something you can really put your finger on, not something that you can tell someone how to get or explain when you see it. I can only quantify it as “You know it when you see it”. Her eyes weren’t empty. She had just lost her son at 17 to a terrible disease but there was life still there as our eyes met. For someone who has witnessed this themselves, and has taken part in this peace, the words that come out next aren’t the words that someone at a wake would normally hear. They are no longer words of condolence so much as words of thanks, praise, and… [Read More]
