pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks ~1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 My prayer life has sucked lately. It’s one of those things you don’t dare say as a Christian but if we are honest with each other I think we can all admit we have times where we just struggle with some particular part of our walk, whether it be prayer or reading or being kind or patient. For whatever reason though it’s okay to admit we are struggling with patience but prayer and staying in the Word seem uncouth as if we lose part of our Christianity if we dare admit it. January 30th, 2011 Dana Fisher But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. ~1 Peter 4:13 You ever notice the more you veer towards the Lord the harder life becomes? That straight and narrow path is narrow for a reason and sometimes, certainly for me, it feels as if either side is a ledge. When I look back at some of the big trials in my life I see a moment in time on that same point where I made a decision for Christ and against the World. We don’t teach that in Sunday School. We teach hey come give your life to Jesus and watch the blessings flow. I believe Christianity need come with a warning. Those blessings do abound but they come at a price. No sooner do we come down off the mountain with Jesus then the wave of doubt and destruction and hardships come crashing against us like the ocean hitting the sea wall. Sure enough, I set my bags in the car, sat down in the passenger seat and it began. I would be headed to Denver soon, uprooting my entire life, leaving my friends, family, and church behind. June 28th, 2010 Dana Fisher For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD ~Jeremiah 29:11 At one point last year I gave my brother directions for putting new spark plugs in his car. After putting them in his car was running worse than before. Spark plugs now-a-days come “pre gaped” which means the space between for the spark is already set at the right spacing for the car they are made for. I never trust a machine, and so I told my brother to check the gap before putting each one in. I had forgot to mention pre-gapping to him so when he went to buy the plugs and the guy behind the counter told him they were already ready to put in he thought he had scored and avoided one step. June 13th, 2010 Dana Fisher He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. ~Psalm 147:3 Lord, I don’t understand. My heart is heavy and my eyes burn. I hear the rain falling outside my window and wonder why it’s falling on everyone. Will it stop? I’ve always known that pruning was painful and I’ve seen some light pruning over my years but nothing like this. Your shears are cutting deep and further back than I’ve ever seen. Many it seems are falling prey to the pleasures of this world. You’ve pruned and they’ve withered and fallen away. Satan has tricked us, each in our weakest point, in to believing there’s nothing better. He’s drawn on our selfishness and brought us to places where our desires are fulfilled. Revival at what cost?
May 19th, 2010 Dana Fisher There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling. ~Ephesians 4:4 I had been thinking about this over the last few weeks, how desperately we were all seeking revival and a change of heart. Not only in this country but around the world. My conversation last week with Christians about immigration(see here) spurred me to really think about it more. My conclusion is the Lord is moving…despite Christians. We can’t get out of our own way. It’s ridiculous. There is so much in-fighting. So much he-said / she-said bickering that the Lord is forced to use others in our place. You’re church is not “the body”, my church is not “the body”. We are ALL the body. Knock it off. Paycheck to Paycheck

Then come, follow me. ~Mark 10:21 “I’m living paycheck to paycheck.” You’ve probably heard this phrase used before. But is it such a bad thing, when done for the right reason? I’ve been wrestling lately with the idea of tithes and giving gifts to the Lord. Whether or not to actually do it, isn’t the question, but the faith behind it is what has been stirring up inside of me. The world tells us to store up and prepare. That’s why we have saving accounts and 401k’s so that we can “retire happy”. Maybe my argument here is radical and over the top but I suggest that the less money you have the happier you will be. We can be complacent and okay with being with him and speaking about Him openly but what about the authority He has given us? The authority to bring change to someone else life. October 28th, 2009 Dana Fisher Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.. ~Matt 11:28 “I want you to take your hands off the reigns and trot over the bars without holding on.” The instructor said. “You want me to do what?” I looked down at her perplexed from atop a beautiful, large horse. I hadn’t ridden on a horse in over 20 years and I had only been on this one for about 15 minutes. “You’re leaning forward with your shoulders, using your own power to keep you up.” She replied. “You need to sit back more and allow the horse to do the work.” I’m a sports guy, I’ve played them my entire life.
